Promise Robotics receives seed grant from SDTC

Startup robotics production platform to enable sustainable, affordable buildings

For immediate release

Toronto, Ontario (December 14, 2021) – Today, Promise Robotics announced funding and support from Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC). SDTC helps high-potential Canadian companies accelerate the development and deployment of globally competitive clean technology solutions.

The Canadian startup is tackling some of the era’s most pressing economic and environmental challenges, including the shortage of housing supply, construction carbon emissions, and growing industry labour shortages.

Promise Robotics’ mission is to help the construction industry harness industrialized robotics and AI towards creating more affordable and sustainable buildings. The technology startup is developing an advanced robotics production platform for offsite production and rapid assembly of highly sustainable panelized building components. The new production technology helps the industry significantly reduce the embodied carbon and operational energy within a building cycle while reducing the production cycle time by 50 percent and nearly eliminating material waste associated with traditional construction.

The technology startup is presently shaping collaborative efforts with developers and builders in the housing sector to increase the industry’s capacity to create more housing supply faster and sustainably.

SDTC’s seed fund supports early-stage Canadian entrepreneurs in every region and every stage across Canada. As Promise Robotics pushes forward a new era of construction, we’re proud to support their work to address housing affordability and sustainability.

Sustainable Development Technology Canada

“We are thrilled and honoured to work with Sustainable Development Technology Canada. The construction industry serves all other sectors, affecting our economy, the environment, and society. Although, the existing cyclical business model and low-profit margins have limited the industry from investing in technology and its workforce for many decades,” says Ramtin Attar, Co-Founder and CEO of Promise Robotics.

“Promise Robotics aims to lower barriers by democratizing innovations that will help the industry increase its capacity for more supply of sustainable and affordable construction,” adds Attar. “As an early-stage technology startup, SDTC funding signifies the high potential afforded through our technology and offers a great resource towards the solutions we are developing for an important sector of our economy.”
